HAUNTED
Cold Night-
Halloween.
The rain pours upon the roof
Tattering away like soldiers' feet.
The girls all bustle around the mirror-
Fixing costumes, laughing.
I look on somberly,
Not participating.
My soul has been haunted-
I shan't be haunting.
Someone has possessed my body.
My actions aren't my own.
I try arguing, but it is useless.
You have me completely, Mark.
I feel less resistance every day.
One day there will be none.
And you and I will become
One.
My soul will be partnered, rather than
haunted.
When that day comes, I will finally
exorcise three words that haunt
me-
"1 Love You."
