The wait goes on

How many more days

will this torment sustain its strength?

How long can one soul continue on,

trudging from place to place

with no hope of release?

Can this one soul continually

battle the impatience, the desperation

the longing in its belly?

Can one soul show hope

through the blackest of hours

bringing renewal to itself, ever ending?

Can the neverending story continue on

without new characters to become a part of it?

How much longer can one soul

perpetuate its little dreams with no assurance

of ever coming to know true answers?

How will it ever come to know

another soul exists in the darkness?

Can just one soul keep the torrent of failure

from rising to swallow it into endless night?
