I Stare

2-17-92

Mark:

Steve laughed so hard that you missed

The shot.

You should be flattered-it was only

My eyes

Staring.

Then you caught on,

And now my face is beet-red.

But secretly, I smile.

Friday night and I wore a

Mini-skirt.

Beneath your shorts

Long and tan legs show,

And I stare

Again.

"It's her last night-can you please play

'Take my Breath Away'?"

I can feel your heartbeat

Flutter.

Mark, mine beats just as fast.

We know it is time to go...

You let go of my hand;

I kiss you goodbye.

Our cars streak away from each other,

Headlights shine down on damp pavement.

Mist symbolizes our sadness.

And I stare.
