If Ever

4/7/96

They laid in the darkness

Her head on his chest.

They whispered and cuddled close.

He knew she had said never.

She wondered, if ever.

She asked if maybe.

He hesitated, then said yes.

They kissed, and something touched them both.

He knew she had said never,

She wondered, if ever.

The pleasure kept coming -

The closeness was closer.

He held her tightly.

He knew she had said never,

She wondered, if ever.

Bound in love,

Holding on together.

One life they'll lead -

No more would she say never,

Or wonder, if ever.
