Late Night
8/22/95
Late into the night,
their words lit up the darkness;
lone tapers against the wind.
Late into the night,
he spoke softly to her;
butterfly's breath on her ear.
Late into the night,
she caressed his soul;
pure silk around his heart.
Late into the night,
they shared the silence;
doves perched on a wire.
Late into the night,
he held her close;
snow downy on a hill.
Late into the night,
she spoke the truth;
sunrise blossomed through the window.
