Starlit Impressions

6/5/94

Starry nights -

Scattered thoughts cross my mind,

As the breeze blows cool through the trees.

The swing creaks and thumps,

It echoes off the campus walls.

In the distance, the squirrels chatter.

We whisper our hopes and fears,

Trying not to disturb the night.

The breeze changes directions, and the cicadas call.

An older couple walks by -

Their feet scuffle on the old walk.

They wave, and we giggle childishly.

The waves rush at the shore -

You leave me at the doorstep,

I listen to you walk away in the dark.
