The Day After

10/4/93

Crisp breezes blow my hair freely about my face,

And I breathe deeply the fresh air.

I have stepped out of a cold, dark embrace,

Into ...

Into what?

A place of new decisions, new hopes,

New fears.

A new outlook on life.

I see many opportunities,

I must select the door.

No doors are closed,

But none welcome freely.

When I choose,

I alone determine the outcome this time.

No more authority but mine.

I am master of my life.

I look up at the sun shining,

And I see many things.

I only hope that I have the will -

To make them come to me.
